Elements and Principles of Design
Demonstrates knowledge of commonly accepted visual design principles, including color theory, typography, preflight, prepress, layout, and print process. Applies those principles to designs.
Uses a variety of products from the Adobe Suite in a design setting, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Demonstrates a high level of skill in at least one of the products
Manages multiple projects, changes in project scope, and shifting priorities in order to maintain project requirements and ensure deadlines are met.
Ensures visual consistency in branding across various mediums and touchpoints. Meets brand standards for the organization or client.
Applies core marketing principles and supports marketing initiatives.
Provides experience producing thumbnails, roughs, and digital layouts emphasizing creative typography.
Introduces the history and concepts of typography as applied to graphic communications. Explores appropriate use of typography in a variety of design applications, emphasizing basic design principles.
Introduction to Computer Graphics
Introduces the student to the computer system and software used to develop graphics. The student will learn hardware and software components for publication and multimedia production.
Focuses upon the student of design layout and conceptual elements concerning graphic design projects such as posters, advertisements, logos, and brochures.
Introduces website planning, design, and creation utilizing HTML through industry-standard development tools.
