Jig Grinder: First Year - 2000 req. hrs
Job orientation and familiarization with company policies
Tool Crib - to acquaint the apprentice with the tools of the trade, different types of steel and their hardening qualities.
Knowledge of the various types of grinding wheels and their specific application, dressing wheels and mounting.
Simple jig grinding assignments following general operating practices.
Jig Borer: Six Months - 1000 req. hrs
Familiarization with jig boring as a means of making the apprentice more versatile.
This training enables the apprentice to learn the speeds, feeds and tool sharpening techniques which are needed to prepare the soft steel pieces which will eventually be jig ground.
