Tube feeding
Starting an IV
12 leak EKG
Tracheal and other suctioning and mouth care
Infection control bundle care
Assists with various patient issues in mental health, end of life, and death
Initiates CPR as necessary; maintains cardiopulmonary resuscitation competency
Monitors patients on suicide precautions and close observations
Remains with arms-length contact of patient when providing one-on-one sitter duty
Performs post mortem care according to hospital policy

Certified Nursing Assistant - 176 req. hrs
This course provides the knowledge and skills required of people seeking employment as Nursing Assistants in long-term and acute care facilities. The course combines the nursing assistant theory of health and disease across the life span, client care skills in a practice lab setting, and medical terminology.
Advanced Patient Skills Theory - 62 req. hrs
This course is designed to prepare nursing assistants with the knowledge and skills they need to perform advanced skills in an advanced care setting. Participants are introduced to skills and equipment that are frequently used to provide care for patients needing advanced care. Topics include sterile fields, wound care, catheter care, oxygenation, and other advanced care skills
Advanced Patient Skills Clinical - 40 req. hrs
This course is designed to supplement the training provided in Advanced Patient Care Theory. Participants will gain practical experience in a clinical setting.
EKG Essentials - 48 req. hrs
This is a course designed for a person who has little or no knowledge of basic electrophysiology and arrhythmia identification. The course focuses on the identification of normal and abnormal EKG rhythms, atrial/ ventricular arrhythmias, heart block, and pacemakers. Participants can relate cardiac rhythms to physiologic occurrences and interpret their degree of clinical significance. This course also prepares participants to operate an EKG (electrocardiogram) machine in a variety of work settings. Topics include basic arrhythmia identification, patient preparation, various leads, and basic EKG interpretation.
Venipuncture and Specimen Collection Techniques Theory (Part I) - 84 req. hrs
This two-part course covers how to collect blood and other specimens such as urine and stool samples and throat cultures and how to prepare samples for testing as a phlebotomist. Included is an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the systems requiring specimen collection. Proper documentation of each skill and correct use of Universal and Standard Precautions are emphasized. This course prepares students to take the National Center for Certification Testing (NCCT) phlebotomy exam.
